Introduction
Welcome to NetGlide. NetGlide is a privacy-focused desktop browser developed by a team of student developers. We are deeply committed to protecting your digital privacy and being fully transparent about how our software operates.
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use NetGlide — including the browser application and our website at netglide.com. By using NetGlide, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Please read it carefully.
The short version: NetGlide is designed from the ground up to collect as little data as possible. Your browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, and preferences stay on your device. We are not in the business of selling your data — ever.
Data We Collect
NetGlide is designed with a minimal footprint. In certain limited scenarios, some data may be involved:
What We Don't Collect
We want to be crystal clear about what NetGlide does not collect from your browser activity:
- Browsing history, search queries, or visited URLs
- Passwords, form fill data, or autofill entries
- Bookmarks, tab groups, or workspace configurations
- IP address, geolocation, or physical location data
- Hardware fingerprinting or device identifiers
- Installed extensions or plugin data
- Crash reports or telemetry data (unless you explicitly opt in)
- Any form of behavioral or usage analytics from within the browser
No account required. NetGlide does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the browser. All features are available without registration.
Local Storage & Your Data
All browsing data generated by NetGlide — including bookmarks, browsing history, shortcuts, preferences, workspace settings, and session data — is stored exclusively on your local device.
- This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it.
- We do not have access to your locally stored data at any time.
- Uninstalling NetGlide will remove all associated local data from your machine.
- You can clear your data at any time from within the browser's settings panel.
We also do not use cookies for tracking in the NetGlide browser application itself. Any cookies you encounter are from websites you visit, and NetGlide gives you full control to manage, block, or auto-delete them.
Auto-Update Feature
NetGlide includes an automatic update checker to ensure you are always running the latest, safest version of the browser. When this feature runs:
- Your current NetGlide version number is checked against the latest release on our GitHub repository.
- No personal data, IP addresses, or identifiers are sent during this check.
- The check is performed over a secure HTTPS connection.
- You will be notified via the browser interface if an update is available.
You can disable auto-update checks in the NetGlide settings. We recommend keeping updates enabled to benefit from the latest security patches.
Children's Privacy
NetGlide is intended for general use and is suitable for users of all ages. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information (e.g., through our contact form), please contact us immediately at the address below. We will promptly delete any such data upon verification.
Since NetGlide does not require account creation or any personal data to operate, the risk of inadvertent collection from minors is inherently minimal.
Third-Party Integration & External Links
NetGlide may include integrations with or links to third-party services for convenience. These include:
- GitHub — Used for update version checks and open-source source code hosting.
- Supabase — Used for storing contact form submissions on our marketing website only. Not used within the browser application.
- Google Fonts — Used on our website for typography. Google Fonts serves font files but does not receive personally identifiable data from NetGlide users.
When you visit external websites through NetGlide, those sites are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy terms of any third-party service you use.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third-party advertisers or data brokers — ever.
Security
We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect the limited data we do handle. Our security practices include:
- All external communications (including update checks and contact form submissions) use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Contact form data stored via Supabase is protected with row-level security policies and access controls.
- We limit access to any collected data to only those team members who require it to provide support.
- We do not store payment information — we currently do not process any purchases through NetGlide.
While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Since we collect minimal data, most of these rights are automatically satisfied by design. However, we acknowledge the following rights:
- Right to Access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you (e.g., contact form submissions).
- Right to Erasure: You can request deletion of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Correction: You can request that any inaccurate data be corrected.
- Right to Object: You can object to any use of your data that you did not consent to.
- Right to Data Portability: We can provide your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format upon request.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via email. We will respond within 30 days of your request.
Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as NetGlide evolves. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
- Display a notice within the NetGlide browser on first launch after the change (for material updates).
- Announce significant changes on our GitHub repository.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of NetGlide after any changes signifies your acceptance of the updated terms.
